On the girls swim side the Lancers were led by seniors Myranda Hess, Lisa Barker, Melissa Kitchen, Sierra Adkins and Angelique Disney, with underclassmeen Melissa Ramon, Eira Perez De La Torre, Diana Carrion, Jordan Figg, Nicole Elias and Anna Ayala. Our boys and girls dive teams dominated the team competitions led by South Bay League Diver of the Year Leo Diaz De Leon, Joseph Pemberton and Ashley Jasmund. Swim & Dive - Freshman Eira Perez De La Torre Receives Special Recognition. |
Posted by: John Salts, SAC, Boys Water Polo, Swim and Dive and Soccer Coach
Lancer Freshman Swimming Sensation, Eira Perez De La Torre has received coverage in newspapers, Has dominated in the waters and now, has been recognized as one of the South Bay League's most dominant Freshman swimmers of all time. Eira has accomplished something this year that does not happen too often in swim. She has gone undefeated in both her individual events through the entire season. We have had the occasional swimmer who might go undefeated through league competitions, but who will drop an event while competing in non-league matches against the big schools. For Eira, she's won them all, a major feat in itself. What makes this story even more special, is the fact that Eira is only a Freshman, she still has three more years of high school competitions ahead of her. Congratulations again, to Eira Perez De La Torre for an amazing season.

Lancer LAX - Hilltop 9, Bonita 6 |
Congratulations to the Lancer Lacrosse team for their 9-6 victory over the Bonita Vista Barons yesterday in the stadium. Demonstrating outstanding ball handling the Lancer offense tallied 4 goals in the first half and 5 in the second. The senior attackmen Justin Trinadad, Anthony Fiorillo and Ryan Sablan led the scoring with 4 assists and 3 goals. Juniors Cameron Tablet and Marcus Turner found the net 3 times and sophomore Ben Potter, scoring three times, broke Bonita’s back and put the game out of reach with a hot outside shot in the closing minutes.
Tenacious defense by seniors Tyler Wenbourne, Sergio Theel, Carlos Ugarte and Sophomore Todd Cooker, and superb goaltending by sophomore Ben Santos frustrated the baron’s offense time after time and returned the ball to the Lancer attack.
Lancer face-off specialist, Senior Tyler Tablit, with Wingmen Joey Chavez and Sergio Theel repeatedly gained the ball for the Lancers, quieting the many Baron fans in the stands, who saw their hope slipping away with each Lancer possession.
Well done Lancer Laxmen!
