ATTENTION STUDENTS: We are offering a $100 reward for information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible for thefts in the girls’ locker room during period 6. LADY LANCERS: Anyone interested in trying out for the Lancer Softball team needs to have their paperwork turned in to the ASB office NOW! Tryouts begin Saturday, Feb. 16th and Monday, the 18th, 9am for all returning players and 10:30 for any new players. Any questions, see Coach Acerrio in room 509 before or after school. Or Coach Burgos in the cafeteria during lunch. (Acerrio)
ATTENTION LANCERS: Come join our Boys soccer team for a special night this Friday night at Castle Park! Due to the recent Fires, Castle Park had to cancel their Homecoming Football game and pageant. They have decided to reschedule their Homecoming Ceremonies to this Friday Evening and have it during a Soccer Match! This will be a rare night match with fireworks at halftime and all the pageantry that goes along with a Homecoming Game. Students with an ASB card pay $3 and $4 without. Please come out and fill up the stands and cheer on your Lancer Boy's to Victory. Game time is 5pm. (Salts)

ATTENTION SWC ART 104 STUDENTS: If you took SWC Art 104 here at Hilltop in the Fall, you MUST request an official transcript from Southwestern college and turn it into Mrs. Arrendondo, the registrar, in the counseling office. If you do not turn in a transcript you will NOT receive credit for the class. (Harken)

See any Key Club or SADD Club member to sign a pledge with that special someone or best friend that you'll both remind each other to say NO TO TOBACCO, ALCOHOL, AND OTHER DRUGS. ATTENTION LANCERS: The Awareness About AIDS club is having a fashion show to raise money for children orphaned due to AIDS in Africa. All proceeds go to the organization "Keep A Child Alive." HEY LANCERS! Girl’s League is hosting a fashion convention to promote the Girl’s League dance. There will be vendors from various places to help you plan your evening. Tickets are $3.00 at the door, in Room 403, or any girl’s league member. This event is on February 5th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM in the Drama Room. Come out and help support Girl’s League. (Palmer)
HEY LANCERS! Tickets for the annual girl’s league dance are on sale for $40.00 with an ASB card and $45.00 without an ASB card. The dance is on March 1st at the Bahia Resort Hotel on Mission Bay from 7:00PM to 11:00PM. Clear your Saturday schools and buy your tickets now. They are going fast. (Palmer)
************SCHOLARSHIP/ COLLEGE SECTION**********
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: All grades: The American Legion Post 434 is offering a scholarship (amount not stated) as long as you have a 3.0 GPA and have some activities such as sports, music, clubs, civic or community service. (Gerlack)
ATTENTION SENIORS: The Kiwanis Club of Chula Vista is offering 6 scholarships at $500 a piece. Scholarships based on 30 pts. letters of recommendation, 30 points GPA, 65 points essay and 75 points community service. (Gerlack)
ATTENTION SENIORS: The Bill Gibbs Endowment is a $1500 to $2500 scholarship. You must be planning on attending a 4 year college/university, have a strong career interest in aviation/aerospace, and plan on pursuing a degree in math, physics, science or engineering. The Convair Alumni Association is offering a $3000 to $4000 scholarship. You must again be attending a 4 year college/university, have community service, leadership skills, and be a direct descendant, natural or adopted of persons employed by Divisions of the General Dynamics Corp. that existed on or before January 1, 1998. Last but not least, is the RA Rearwin Scholarship. It is worth $1500 to $2500. You must be attending a 4 year college/university, have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, have strong aviation/aerospace interests and plan on pursuing a baccalaureate degree in an aerospace-related field. FACULTY SECTION
PLC TIDBIT OF THE DAY: Formative assessment is an assessment FOR learning used to advance and not merely monitor each student’s learning. Formative assessments are used to ensure any student who experiences difficulty reaching or exceeding proficiency is given additional time and support as well as additional opportunities to demonstrate his or her learning. Formative assessments are also used to help students monitor their own progress toward an intended standard of proficiency. (Radford)
ATTENTION FACULTY: The Incoming Freshmen Parent Night is Wednesday, February 13th at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. As you know, this informational session provides an excellent opportunity for all of Hilltop's programs to recruit freshmen. If you are interested in presenting, please let Katie Treat know ASAP.
