ATTENTION ADVANCED PLACEMENT STUDENTS: Please make sure to make your $5.00 deposit per AP test by this Friday February 29, 2008. You need to make your deposits per AP test in order for you to take your AP tests in May. (Alvarado)
ATTENTION STUDENTS: The Adelante Latino Conference will be held at UCSD on Saturday March 8, 2008. If you are a Latino/Hispanic male and are interested in attending UCSD and/or finding out more about career fields please see MR. Alvarado in the main office for an application. The conference is free. Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge. Transportation to and from Hilltop High School is also provided free of charge. (Alvarado)

ATTENTION SENIORS: If you have/had a parent in the US Marines or are/were a US Navy Corpsman with the US Navy, pick up an application entitled Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. They will pay $1000 to $10,000 dollars. Looking for families who make $77,000 or less.
Attention University- Bound Juniors: To register for the SAT Reasoning and/or Subject Tests go to: www.collegeboard.com. The registration deadline for the SAT test held on May 3RD is April 1ST . (Late registration for this test will be received by April 10th for an additional fee. Fee waivers may not be used for late registration.) The registration deadline for the SAT test held on June 7TH is May 6TH . (Late registration for this test will be received by May 15TH for an additional fee. Fee waivers may not be used for late registration.) To register for the ACT test go to: www.actstudent.org. The registration deadline for the April 12TH ACT test is March 7TH . (Late registration without a fee waiver for this test will be accepted from March 8TH – 21ST for an additional fee.) The registration deadline for the ACT test held on June 14TH is May 9TH . ATTENTION SENIORS: If you are interested in the building industry, The Building Industry Association of San Diego County is offering a scholarship. They look at academics, personal achievement, and financial need. Must be interested in pursuing a career in the building industry. Majors in college which would work would be advertising, finance, construction management, architecture, carpentry, city planning, real estate, interior design just to name a few. Due April 7TH.
ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES: The San Diego Zoo is offering a Science Exploratory Internship to start in the fall of 2008 or the winter of 2009. Fantastic opportunity. You would get a real-world look at biology-based and conservation jobs at the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. You need to have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must demonstrate interests in science, conservation, and community through extra-curricular activities. You will have to commit to 7 weeks of after-school sessions (3:00 to 5:00) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Pick up an application from Ms. Gerlack in the counseling center.
ATTENTION JUNIORS: Pepperdine University is offering it's annual Youth Citizenship Seminar for 5 days this summer. You will not need to pay for room, meals, tuition and materials. Only for transportation up and back and spending money. This is an incredible opportunity. The program is designed to stir new interest and even greater passion and understanding for this country. Through inspiring presentations, interactive workshops, unique break-out sessions and one-on-one communication with world renowned speaks and leaders from all walks of life. Pepperdine is looking for a wide variety of leadership strengths: ASB, clubs, athletic, musical, academic, theatrical. They would like 2 guys and 2 ladies. See Ms. Gerlack in the counseling center to sign up.
ATTENTION SENIORS: If you are 18 or soon to be, this is a fantastic opportunity for you. The city of Chula Vista is offering an opportunity for a student to travel to Odawara, Japan for 2 weeks. You would live with a Japanese family. After that the Japanese student will come to the US and spend 2 weeks with you. While you are in Japan you will be doing volunteer work, attending city council, sightseeing, etc. You will have prepared a presentation on your hometown of Chula Vista. If interested, see Ms. Gerlack in the counseling center for an application.
ATTENTION STUDENTS: BIOCOM is offering its Life Sciences Summer Institute. Great opportunity. This is an 8 week program. One week is a non-paid internship and the next 7 weeks you are paid. You will learn how to formulate and test hypotheses, prepare experiments, and draw conclusions from those experiments. You must be 16 as of June 9, 2008, and must have a 3.0. And have successfully completed biology and chemistry. See Ms.Gerlack for an application.
