SCHOOL WISDOM OF THE DAY: The person who wrote the dictionary had an excellent vocabulary --- even if the plot IS poor. (Radford)

AAA and GSA CLUBS: have an important joint lunch meeting in 1408 today, Tuesday. If you are participating in the San Diego AIDS walk you must come to the meeting! See you there! (Radford)

STUDENTS: Interested in writing for the upcoming issue of Hilltop’s newspaper, The Lance?? Come to a lunch time meeting in Room 1524 today, TUESDAY the 22nd. Hope to see you there. (Cunningham)

CSF OFFICERS: Congratulations to our new Senior CSF Officers. President: Claudia Murga, Vice-President: Jessica Barnes, Secretary: George “Tony” Alvarado and Treasurer: Krishna Kumar. (Yamad)

COMPACT FIELDTRIP: On the day of the fieldtrip, September 23rd, you will receive a pass during period 1. This will be your ticket to board the bus. Make sure you bring your ID card and report to the cafeteria at 8:34 a.m. Also, the expected weather at SDSU is very hot. Bring water and a hat /sunscreen so that you are prepared for temperatures in the 90’s. (Yamada)

SENIORS: The National CO-OP Scholarship is offering $6000 scholarships, renewable for the following schools: Drexel University; Johnson & Wales; Kettering; Pace, Rochester Institute of Technology; the University of Cincinnati; the University of Toledo and Wentworth Institute of Technology. If interested, pick up an application. (Gerlack)

SENIOR: If you have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA, will be attending a 4 year college/university next fall and are actively involved in your community, pick up a Kyoto Scholarship. Worth up to 10,000. (Gerlack)

ALL GRADES: The 2009 PSA Video Contest is offering $1000 for a 60 second video where you show what $1000 could do for your school. Easy!! (Gerlack)

SENIORS: If you are applying to Mount St. Mary’s College, check out their merit-based awards. Awards ranging between $8000 and full ride. (Gerlack)




SENIORS: The AXA Achievement scholarship is worth $10,000 at the state level and $25,000 at the national level. This is a must but is obviously very competitive. They are looking for students who are goal oriented and have their future planned out. They are looking for serious community service/club involvement. Excellent grades are required. Pick an application up at the Counseling Center. (Gerlack)


SENIORS: Great scholarship opportunity. The Elks National Foundation offers scholarships from $8,000 to 60,000. It is based on GPA (3.5 minimum), leadership, community service, and financial need. Don’t worry about the financial need. Apply anyway. Scholarships are in the Counseling Center. (Gerlack)


FACULTY

PLC TIDBIT OF THE DAY: A systems thinker also understands how structures in a system relate to a system’s performance. Structures include, among many things, how people work together, policies and procedures, school calendars and schedules, contracts, job descriptions, and how decisions get made. (Radford)

PARAPROFESSIONAL 2009 FALL ASSIGNMENT APPLIATIONS: Are here in the Main Office and you can pick up from Joey.

ATTENTION US HISTORY TEACHERS: Counselor presentations will take place in your classrooms on Monday, October 19th. A copy of this schedule was sent to your e-mail and was also placed in your teacher box. We wanted to give you the schedule early for your planning purposes. Counselors will be doing presentations that should take the entire duration of the period. The students will be receiving pertinent information on credit recovery, graduation and college requirements, and much more.
