STUDENT SECTION
SCHOOL WISDOM OF THE DAY: Every good intention to “battle the books” is worthless without action. (Radford)
STUDENTS OF ALL GRADES: We are re-soliciting students for the Principal’s Round Table. If you are interested in becoming a member, please see Mrs. Ocampo in the main office to pick up an application. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 24th in the library during 4th period. (Ocampo)
SENIORS: Report to the amphitheater today, Wednesday, to receive further information on the senior prom, senior fundraisers, and class picture. (Gutierrez)
LANCERS: The Community Service Club has volunteer opportunities for this upcoming Saturday, October 24th at Rosebank Elementary for their Annual Fall Festival. We will need ten students from 8:00 to 12:00 noon and then another ten students from 4:00 pm to 6:00pm for set up and tear down. This is available to the First 20 students who can commit to these hours and sign up in Room 814. Each year we normally get about 50 to 60 kids volunteer so be quick and sign up early. GO LANCERS!!! COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS: If you have college application questions or if you need help filling out your college applications, plan to attend a Thursday “College Application Workshop.” Counselors will be available to help seniors this Thursday during lunch in Room 2302. Other Thursday lunchtime workshop dates are scheduled for Oct. 29th, Nov. 5th, Nov. 12th and Nov. 19th. (Di Stefano)
BOY’S LACROSSE: There will be a meeting for boys interested in playing Lacrosse this spring TODAY, Wednesday October 21st in Coach Bishop's room (1508) at 1:15 (Lunch). The schedule and uniforms will be discussed. (Bishop)
COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: Clearview Harvest Festival needs volunteers!!! Friday night October 23rd, from

COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS: must apply to CSU’s & UC’s during October and November. During these months, we will proudly announce some of Hilltop’s finest college graduates! Today’s “Staff Spotlight” is Ms. Radford. Ms. Radford attended the Monterey Institute of international Studies and San Diego State. In order to be successful in college, she believes students should learn “self responsibility”. Her most memorable experience from college includes learning with students who were interested in the same subjects-it was motivating and exhilarating. (Di Stefano)

ATTENTION 11TH AND 12TH GRADE STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN HELPING OTHERS: There will be an informational meeting about starting a peer tutoring program here at Hilltop High School TODAY, Wednesday, October 21st at lunch in room 905. We are seeking tutors who have strong academics and are willing to help other students. Tutoring will take place during lunch and/or after school and tutors will earn community service hours. ATTENTION FEMALES: If any of you are interested in signing up for Miss Teenage California 2010, see Ms. Gerlack in the counseling center. Top winner: $10,000 scholarship to college of your choice. Competition categories are: achievements and activities in school and in the community; personality; poise and presence in formal attire. (Gerlack)
COLLEGE BOUND SENIORS: Please know that ANY “D” or “F” grade earned in the senior year will disqualify students from admission to SDSU or any UC campus. It is important to monitor your student progress as we approach the second progress report cycle ending October 30th. (Counselors)

PLC TIDBIT OF THE DAY: SMART goals are results based: aimed at specific outcomes that can be measured or observed. Results-based goals define not only WHAT is expected, but they also communicate a DESIRED END POINT. Results could come in the form of student achievement in a particular area, a percentage of students who improve in a certain area, or as a demonstration of learning that can be defined and measured.(Radford)
FLU SHOTS: Today, Wednesday, October 21st, 8:00 to 4:30 in the District Office Board Room or Wednesday, November 4th, 3:30 – 5:30 at Rancho Del Rey Cultural Arts Center. Shots are for employees only and will be for the seasonal flu. Please contact your primary care physician for Swine Flu information. Please wear short sleeved shirts or blouses on the day you are planning to get your shot. Pneumonia shots will be offered for $50.00.
