STUDENT SECTION

SCHOOL WISDOM OF THE DAY: Can’t keep up in class? Perhaps you need help in sharpening your study skills. (Radford)

STUDENTS: College Bound seniors must apply to CSU’s & UC”s during October and November. During these months, we will proudly announce some of Hilltop’s finest college graduates! Today’s “Staff Spotlight” is Ms. Simko. Ms. Simko attended SDSU & Hunter College in New York City. Ms. Simko advises students to research career choices before selecting a major. Her most memorable experience from college was having one of her professor write “This is one of the best papers I’ve ever read!” (She still has it if you need proof!). (Di Stefano)

STUDENTS: The following students Chante Prettyman, Dylan Chase and Claudia Murga were selected and added as a member to the Principal’s Round Table and the next meeting will be held on December 15. (Ocampo)

SENIORS APPLYING TO SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE: In order to apply to Southwestern College, you will need to apply on-line. If you need help, please attend the application workshop on Thursday, December 3rd at lunch in Room 302. (Yamada)

BREAST CANCER 3-DAY: I wanted to thank all of you for your generous support of my 3-Day (officially 55 mile walk). I have exceeded my goal so I thank you. If you haven’t made a donation yet and would like to do so it’s not too late. Go to www.the3day.org, click on donate, and type in my name. Keep me in your thoughts this today, tomorrow and Sunday and think NO BLISTERS! Thank you again for your support and remember “Everyone Deserves a Lifetime”. (Ms. R.)

HILLTOP HIGH’S 38TH ANNUAL HUMANITIES AUCTION: will be held this year on December 11th at lunch in the gym, and all proceeds will be going to Rady Children’s Hospital. Raffle tickets are being sold during the video bulletin at the end of second period for just $1 each and those who enter will have a chance at winning either an Ipod Touch, Xbox 360, Acer Laptop, digital camera, or Beatles Rock band video game set.

THE SADD CLUB: will have it’s First Official Meeting today, Friday, November 20th during LUNCH I Mrs. Thompson’s Room 1526 to announce the results of the Officers’ Elections and to coordinate a school wide lunchtime event for the GREAT AMERICAN SMOKE-OUT. All students are welcome!!! (Mrs. Thompson)

STUDENTS: Mrs. Fericelli’s Period 2 Connect Crew class has decided to donate all of their collected cans and too opt out of the contest. Thank you Connect Crew for your kindness and community service. We appreciate all that you do for our school. (Ratchford)

SENIORS: If you are planning on majoring in computer science or computer/electrical engineering, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and want to work for the National Security Agency, they will pay your way through college! Scholarship due November 30th. Look under National Security Agency. (Gerlack)

SENIORS: Remember the Gates Millennium Scholarship is due January 11th full ride. Need to find your recommender and recommender before winter break. (Gerlack)

SENIORS: The Ford Salute to Education. $1000 and a chance for a car or truck. 4 simple questions and a letter of recommendation. 16 categories to choose from. You can’t get any easier. (Gerlack)

SENIORS: The National Association of Women in Construction is offering 2 $1000 scholarships. #1 is for a male or female who is pursuing any college degree and who has a parent working in the San Diego Construction industry. #2 is for a female senior who plans on pursuing a college degree in a construction related profession such as architecture, engineering or construction management. SENIORS FEMALES OF LATINA BACKGROUND: who will be attending a 4 year college/university in the fall. The Adelante mujer is a $500 scholarship. Students will be chosen from our district only. (Gerlack)

COMMUNITY SERVICE: The Elks Lodge is looking for volunteers for the month of November. See Ms. Gerlack in the Counseling Center. (Gelrack)

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: I have a fun opportunity for Thanksgiving Day if you are interested. See Mrs. Gutierrez in Room 1511. (Gutierrez)

JAMBA JUICE SALE: Today, Friday, November 20th, CSF will be selling Jamba Juice @ lunch in the quad area for $4.00. Please support our CSF Fundraiser. (Yamada)


FACULTY

PLC TIDBIT OF THE DAY: Educators often have the do-it-al-to perfection disease. Rather than testing new ideas on a small scale before full implementation, they want to get it ALL right and then implement on a full scale. (Radford)

STAFF: Please let me know as son as possible if you would like to request a student aide for second semester. For those of you who currently have an aide, I have added your name to the list if you indicated on your “Student Aide KEEP/DROP” form that you would like more.
Reminder:
*Teachers may be assigned a total of three student aides per semester but no more than one aide per class period and no aide during your prep.
*Physical Education, Industrial Arts and Science teachers with labs may request up to one aide for each class.
*Seniors may be assigned only one period a day as a teacher, library, or office aide.
*Juniors may not be teacher aides. (Di Stefano)

STAFF: BOOKS ARE FUN is set up in the Attendance Office. This is the last time they’ll be here before the holidays. Orders must be in by Tuesday, November 24th. (Butler)
