encourages students to broaden their reading to include a variety of genres.
This year, themes focus on:
Through
the reading of literature, readers of all ages experience vicariously the
lives of others, different time periods, places, value systems, and the
many cultures of the world. The Hilltop High library collection accommodates
a variety of tastes, abilities, and learning modalities. Selections include
works about other cultures and works by authors that contribute ot our
common culture; works written or translated into languages other than English;
the classics, including modern-day classics; and just good reading materials
for readers to enjoy. Literature provides experiences that are ordinarily
inaccessible, broadens knowledge of the world and its people, and improves
reading skills.
