STUDENTS:  If any of you have singing or dancing talent and would like to perform on stage during our multi cultural faire this Friday, please come to Room 1408 and ask Ms. Radford to put you on the schedule.  (Radford)<br />

STUDENTS:  The Multi Cultural Faire is this Friday!  Tickets are selling fast.  You’ll want to sample all of the delicious food that we’ll have there, so be sure to buy enough tickets.  We haven’t gotten to every class every day because of the volume of ticket sales during period 2, so Ms. Walters and Ms. Ocampo in the Main Office have kindly offered to help out with ticket sales.  You can go at nutrition break and lunch to buy some tickets if needed. Don’t leave the faire hungry!  The only way to “buy” food is with a ticket.  (Radford) <br />

STUDENTS:  If you are going to take part in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest, it is due on March 31st.  You can call the person on the application and she would be willing to pick up your artwork or you can drop it off at the address on the form.  (Gerlack)<br />

SENIOR MALES:  The Spence Reese Scholarship is looking for males who are interested in majoring in the following 4 majors:  medicine; engineering; law; political.  One scholarship per domain will be given.  The scholarship is worth $4000 per year renewable for 4 years.  It is due April 1st, so pick up an application now before we go on holiday. SENIORS APPLYING TO SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE:  Reminder to complete your online Southwestern College Application as soon as possible.  The priority registration is the month of March.  If you need help, please sign up to see the SWC Advisor, Paulina, in the Counseling Center.  (Yamada)<br />

STUDENTS:  Huck Fin is sponsoring a fishing trip tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17th, from 1:30pm to 6:30pm.  This will be an ocean trip off Point Loma.  There is no cost for members and new members are always welcomed.  Please See Coach Hedderson in Room 1506 to sign up.  We are limited to 30 people.  (Hedderson)<br />

SENIORS:  2 more scholarship opportunities:  1) Anthony Furlano Academic Scholarship will pay up to $2000 for students who are of Italian descent (25% minimum), are strong in academics and community service.  2)  The Brian Piccolo Memorial Award will also pay up to $2000 and they are looking for students with Italian descent (25% minimum), strong athletic ability, good grades and community service. Need only to have a 2.0 GPA.  If selected, the scholarship will pay for all of your tuition/registration fees, parking passes, books and paper, binder, etc.  This is a great scholarship.  2 years of college paid for. ATTENTION JUNIORS:  If you plan to attend a four-year university directly out of high school, you MUST take the SAT or ACT exam.  In addition, if you plan to attend a UC school, you must also take the SAT Subject tests.  Don’t forget to sign up for the SATS or ACTs if you haven’t done so already. The registration deadline for the May 1st SAT exam is MARCH 25th.  The registration deadline for the June 5th SAT exam is APRIL 29th.  To sign up for the SATs go to: www.collegeboard.com.  March 5th is the registration deadline for the April 10th ACT exam.  May 7th is the registration deadline for the June 12th ACT exam.  To register for the ACTs go to: www.actstudent.org. ADVANCED PLACEMENT TESTING:  The deadline to turn in your AP test application is today, March 12th.  Those students who qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, the cost is been reduced to $5.00 per test.  If you have already paid the prior cost of $8.00, you will be refunded the difference in the ASB office during nutrition break or lunch.  (Walters)<br />

SENIORS:  As of March, 5 2010 there are 259 seniors who have not turned in the appropriate community service hours required for graduation. These hours were due August 28, 2009.  As of March 10, you have 28 school days left to meet the final deadline of May 7th. SENIORS:  2 more scholarship opportunities:  1) Anthony Furiano Academic Scholarship will pay up to $2000 for students who are of Italian descent (25% minimum), are strong in academics and community service.  2)  The Brian Piccolo Memorial Award will also pay up to $2000 and they are looking for students with Italian descent (25% minimum), strong athletic ability, good grades and community service. ADVANCED PLACEMENT TESTING:  The deadline to turn in your AP test application is Friday, March 12th.  Those students who qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, the cost is been reduced to $5.00 per test. STUDENTS:  Get Ready!  The famous Multi Cultural Faire is just around the corner and food tickets are being sold at this time if you’d like to purchase some.  The Faire is Friday, March 19th.  All your favorite foods will be on sale again, so don’t be left out!  We’ll have Chinese food, bratwurst, root beer floats, pie, Japanese food, Greek salads, French sandwiches and of course, Mexican food!  Plan to eat, eat, eat!  Tickets are $1 each. SENIORS:  If you are planning on attending Southwestern College in the fall and have financial need, check out the Chula Vista Police Activities League (PAL) – Jim Zoll Scholarship.  Need only to have a 2.0 GPA.  If selected, the scholarship will pay for all of your tuition/registration fees, parking passes, books and paper, binder, etc.  This is a great scholarship.  2 years of college paid for. ATTENTION JUNIORS:  If you plan to attend a four-year university directly out of high school, you MUST take the SAT or ACT exam.
